Days 56 & 57 of our new life as full time travelers // Recorded on Oct 31st and November 1st
Sharing our experience taking an overnight bus in Turkey!
We tried to make our trip a little bit more enjoyable and played a game to keep ourselves entertained and also to share the whole experience with you. All in all, the overnight bus experience wasn't that bad, but it was exhausting and we are not sure if we would do it again.
Watch the whole video and let us know if you would do it :)

The day has come when we finally have to board an overnight bus. We have been avoiding this so far
0:12
I have never been in an overnight bus. Neither have you, Ryan? I don't think so. So we'll see how that goes
0:18
We have a friendly competition planned for the bus ride to make it a little bit more interesting
0:24
and hopefully it will fly by. We are going to a city called Rize. We're going straight north to
0:30
the Black Sea because right now we have five weeks left in Turkey and we're little by little
0:36
finding our way back to Istanbul. So we can't wait to show you what's ahead for Ways of the
0:42
World for our last time last weeks in Turkey. Well now it's time to check out and we have to head to
0:49
to the bus station. This is the game we're playing
1:01
Just a little friendly bet. We're going to record ourselves answering these questions
1:06
and see who wins. Right now? Yes. Ooh. At what time will the bus be backing out
1:14
We're supposed to leave at 6. 6 o'clock. I say at 6
1:22
Turkish buses have been pretty... I have faith in the Turkish bus system
1:29
6.07, we're backing out. Pretty much on time. Yep. Good first guess
1:37
One point for G. Yep. How many stops will the bus make
1:43
Oh, seven. Seven. I'm gonna say... I'm gonna say six. Oh great answer
2:04
Yummy huh? Dinner. The bathroom here smells worse than anything I've ever smelled in my entire life
2:13
Worse than anything you've ever smelled? There's like rows, two rows of like 15 squatty bodies and just like the smell of urine is so intense
2:22
that I was so sad to be here. That was my emotion, I was sad
2:32
It is stop number four. 2 a.m. Aymara's still on the bus sleeping
2:42
It's cold here. Will the bus driver smoke during the ride
3:24
I think 11 and a half hours I think the bus driver is going to smoke on the ride
3:31
I say no. I don't think he will. It took a couple hours into the trip but our driver is smoking
3:40
So another point for cheating. How many police checkpoints? I've heard there are a lot
3:49
You cheated! From Martin, I'm telling you right now that this is before advancing
3:55
A German friend who made the trip to the Black Sea said there were a lot of checkpoints
4:00
I'm gonna say five. I'm gonna say... I'm gonna say three. We just had our first checkpoint, but for the first time in Turkey it was like the actual military
4:11
So we came in and checked everyone, and before coming in everyone put a mask on
4:17
and there's someone sitting in the aisle of the bus just like that's where their seat is
4:24
so like the military guy was like yelling at the chauffeur i don't know if that was resolved
4:29
at what time do you think the bus will arrive in reason what does it say in the ticket first of all
4:36
well it says 11 and a half hours i'm leaving at 6 p.m so 5 30
4:40
5.30. So we're supposed to get there at 5.30 a.m. I guess 6.15
4:48
6.50. We have made it to Urize. The time is 8.20. So just a couple hours late
5:01
We were both very wrong. We were both very wrong. Is someone going to adopt us or travel with us during our bus ride
5:08
So this has been a trend on most of our buses, that someone adopts us to make sure that we're
5:15
comfortable and that we know when to get off our bus. And translate for us, like how many minutes on each stop they see us and they always like
5:23
they want to help. I'm going to say yes. I'm going to say yes
5:27
We're totally going to have a chat room. I was going to say no, only because it's a night bus and I feel like everyone just
5:35
wants to like turn on a movie and sleep and they're not gonna care about us I'm saying no
5:41
I have faith in the Turkish people I think they sleeping At what time is our hotel going to let us check in
6:01
I think technically it's 2 p.m. but I'm going to send good vibes out into the universe and say 8 a.m
6:10
I think they're gonna let us check in early but not at me. I think they're gonna let us check in like at 11
6:18
Are they gonna give us breakfast? I'm sure we'll give us at least time
6:25
They let us check in. And have breakfast. And have breakfast. But like..
6:30
She knew who we were because I messaged them but they never responded. I was like, hey, we're coming to the user really early and it'd be awesome if you guys could let us check in early and no response
6:40
I was like, well, I guess they just ignored me. But she was super nice
6:44
She was very nice. And we have a room and we have a hotel and a bed and coffee
6:59
Crunchy. The obvious winner is Mr. G. We will find the video informational too
7:11
We definitely were able to distract ourselves during a long bus ride
7:16
Would you do this again? How are you feeling? The bus ride? I don't know
7:22
Hopefully now is not the right time. No, right now is exactly the right time
7:28
Let me tell you something. It wasn't bad, honestly. Everything was fine
7:34
I think that the hardest part was that it was a night bus. Like it's, being in a bus is better than being in an airplane for that long
7:42
Like at night there's just nothing to look at. It's just so boring
7:46
That was my, that's my defense. I'm just tired. And I don't know if I would do this again
7:55
We might have to, but we don't know yet. Thank you for watching
7:59
Or entertaining. Or entertaining. I guess we didn't suffer that much. We just went out of the car away for 40 minutes after a 20 hour bus ride
8:09
It wasn't 20 hours. Anyways, thank you for watching. See you next time
8:15
Thanks for watching. Bye. If you're 5'4, there's room
8:28
If you are 6'4, there is zero. room I don think you going to feel great I thought the night bus was going to be an upgrade We had bigger we had more space than other buses Yeah it seemed fancy from the outside
8:46
It's pretty new, I mean the seats are comfortable. It's not an upgrade in terms of space
8:52
Tell me more. The bus, the bus, it's like when dark, right? Yeah
8:59
It's like when it's like, you know when things are like moist
9:03
I'm not in a good way, not in the rainstorm It's just how it's damp
9:11
Damp, yeah that's a word, that's how expensive I think we have like one kilo
9:21
Especially this time Maybe that's dinner tonight That's sookiness
9:33
On the little cement things? On the little cement. Just warming up with some chai
9:49
It works. It only works one hand at a time. Your hands are too big
9:56
The cup is too small. We made it to Uzungo
10:44
This is a beautiful little lake town. It's like right in the middle of the mountains. It's
10:49
really spectacular how pretty it is here. The drive here was incredible with all the trees
10:53
all the leaf changing colors. It's the perfect fall day. We saw this giant paws
11:06
Back here too. I was just walking, just looking down. Oh, that is a bear
11:14
It's gotta be, right? I didn't know they had bears. We're gonna go get the car
11:21
I think this is drivable. Yeah. Now that we've done some scouting
11:25
It is drivable
