After over four weeks here in Portugal, it's finally time for us to show you around Lisbon

We have been hanging around town for a few days already and this is actually the second time that we're here in Lisbon

we decided that for this video we're going to do things a little bit differently yeah so there are

decided that the world might want to see something a little bit different so the first thing that we're going to do today is something that you wouldn't expect to see in a lisbon video

so we're at this place called quake experience and it's exactly what it sounds like

we're going to experience a simulated earthquake which is really crazy and you may be wondering why

well in 1755 portugal was hit by a really devastating earthquake and tsunami and it

really changed the course of history for portugal and for the rest of europe so we thought this

would be an interesting first stop and i'm so nervous because one of my biggest fears in the

Some of the most interesting things that we learned. One is that this marked the beginning of urban planning

So it made people understand that they needed to prepare for disaster. so they plan like architecture design everything and it inspired other places in the world to do

Belém neighborhood which is kind of far from the city center but definitely worth checking out

are the Belém tower, the beautiful San Jerónimo monastery and of course the famous Pastejo de Belém

allowed in Portugal anymore. So like a terminal walk from Belém towards the city center, there's this place called

LX Factory and it is a really cool area. So this was like an industrial area in the 1800s

and then it was abandoned but then a few years ago it was developed to like spruce up like this part

of the city so now it's full with like bars and restaurants and cool shops and it's a really cool

So we're done exploring one side of the city and now we're heading to our most famous part of the city

and the best way to get there of course we had to do one of our iconic trends

which are super touristy but if you go early in the morning

Let go so much fun we actually took one of those trams in Porto but that ride lasted like 30 seconds and this one was like 15 minutes

So we took it from the neighborhood of Lapa, which is outside of the city center

And I think that's key to enjoy this ride because not only it was like less busy, but it took like 15 minutes

So you actually like it to look outside and it's like so fun to look out the window and see like all the beautiful tiles and buildings and all the stops

And it's not only fun, it's also very useful because we're now in Lisbon's historic city center

We are now in Plaza do Comercio in the famous Baia district

This place is beautiful, it's like right on the Tegas River, but because of that, when the earthquake hit in 1755 and the incoming tsunami came, this was one of the areas that

was like mostly wiped out, like all the buildings were destroyed. They obviously rebuilt it in a very beautiful way

It's very grand and there's like grand avenues like running from here. It's like one of the central areas in all of Lisbon

It also gets like pretty hectic. So the other day we saw like three cruise ships like right on the dock next to us

So there are a lot of people in this area. You'll definitely have to come here. It's like incredible just like walking around

the little streets and see what's happening here in Lisbon. It's the perfect starting point to visit beautiful Lisbon

So we're in this neighborhood called Barrio Alto and it is super famous for nightlife

so the streets like here get packed with people, bar hopping, and it's a super popular neighborhood

during the day. There's a lot of local restaurants here so we're at this place called Adega da

Cabro and in here they serve traditional Portuguese food and it's like all home

groups like locally owned. It's very nice and it's like the best way that we can

have like our last lunch in Portugal. It's very sad. I'm gonna miss the food here a

lot and everything about Boca. And we forgot to mention that they have special menus for lunch, so this dish, a drink and

experience. It's basically a genre of music that was invented here by like fishermen's wives who

were like missing their husbands that just like went out to sea to go fishing or like part of the

Age of Discovery so they created songs of like longing and they're super sad and melancholic

and it's an essential part of Lisbon so enjoy Fado Music and so that doesn't have a translation to English but it means like a longing for something that you like miss like from the past
